The maths

Figures are estimates for guidance only and do not constitute financial advice. They assume your rate stays the same for the rest of the term and that you keep paying your normal monthly amount after any lump sum, so the mortgage finishes sooner. Many lenders let you overpay up to 10% of your balance each year without an early repayment charge, but this varies, so check your lender's terms first. Speak to an mbnm adviser for an accurate picture.

How to use it

  • 1
Add your balance, interest rate and time left on your mortgage
  • 2
Pick an extra monthly amount, add a one off lump sum, or both
  • 3
See the interest you save and your new mortgage free date

Check your lender's overpayment allowance first. Many let you overpay up to 10% of your balance a year without an early repayment charge.
